Welcome to SKIES Unlimited! Our mission is to serve and offer inspiring classes that nurture the development of our Fort Gregg-Adams children, youth and Families as we create opportunities for the community. SKIES Unlimited is the framework for the Army's Child and Youth Services (CYS) instructional program. Classes are designed to compliment and support the experiences children and youth have in CYS and in schools. Our goal is to ensure predictability, affordability and quality of all instructional classes offered.
Fort Gregg-Adams Instructional Programs:
There are countless advantages when youth participate in instructional programs. Youth can develop positive self-image and leadership skills, discover new knowledge, skills and special talents, and develop an increased individual competence.
Our instructional programs embody the experimental learning model by allowing participants to experience the skills by doing, share the experience by describing what they've learned, process the experience to determine what was most important, generalize the experience and relate it to their daily lives, and apply what they learned to a new situation.
Each child learns differently and teaching techniques that can excite each of the senses will have a greater success rate than a teaching technique that does not. Our instructors are knowledgeable in their areas and nurture all of the participants with positive guidance and support. Each participant leaves with a feeling of increased competence in his or her ability.
All SKIES Unlimited classes are held at the Battle Annex, Bldg. 10622, Battle Drive. Classes are available to children ages 3-17 of active duty, reservist and National Guard on active duty, DoD civilians and DoD contractors. Registration is required prior to enrolling or participating in SKIES Unlimited classes and can be completed at the Parent Central Services, Bldg 10624, Yorktown Drive.
