Dog Park

This fenced dog park is a safe place for dogs to run and socialize off-leash. The park is rarely crowded and your pet will have plenty of room to play. There's also shade to relax under and benches for pet parents.

Dog Park Rules

     By entering this park, users and dog owners agree to assume all risks, duties and liabilities related to park use.

  • Dogs shall have on a collar with ID tags displacing current license and rabies vaccination at all times while in the park; NO spiked collars allowed.
  • Park is open sunrise to sunset.
  • Each adult may have a maximum of 2 dogs at a time in the park.
  • Owners are responsible for any injury or damage caused by your dog.  Prevent injuries by supervising your dog at all times.  Never leave your dog unattended.  If your dog inflicts an injury, give your name and telephone number to the other dog owner before leaving.  You are at all times solely responsible for your dogs behavior and any damage your dog may cause.
  •  Owners must collect and properly dispose of all dog waste.  Dog waste must be disposed of in the containers provided.  Bags and disposal sites are provided.
  • Female dogs in heat or displaying signs of illness are not allowed on the premises.
  • No animals other than dogs permitted.
  • No food (animal food or people food), treats, or bones are allowed inside the fenced area.
  • No littering: wrappers and other litter can be eaten by dogs and cause a choking or digestion hazard which can be life-threatening.
  • Dogs must be in sight and under voice control of owners at the times.
  • No smoking inside the Dog Park.
  • No strollers, bicycles, tricycles, big wheels, wagons, rollerblades, etcetera are allowed in the dog park, except wheelchairs used by people with physical disabilities.
  • Wear shoes at all times.
  • Children under 12 are not allowed inside the fenced area.  Unless supervised  by an adult.
  • Dogs under 4 months are prohibited.
  • Use at own risk.  Risk may include dog attacks and bites to humans and other dogs; illnesses and infections spread to other dogs and humans; and damage to personal property caused by dogs. There may be other risks not mentioned here.
  • All bites must be reported by contacting the Animal Control office/Game Warden at 804- 652-5979.  It shall be unlawful for a person to fail to report to the Animal Control as soon as possible that an animal has bitten a person.  It shall be unlawful for any person to fail to inform the Animal Control unit the location to which an animal that as bitten a human being has been taken if the owner has given the animal away; or caused in any way the animal to be taken from the owner’s premises.  In case of an Emergency call 911.
  • Owners who fail to abide by rules and regulations are subject to loss of park privileges.
  • The Garrison Commander may shut down the Dog park at his or hers discretion due to health, safety concerns and or failure to follow the established Dog Park Rules.
Dog Park Etiquette
  • Keep walking or playing- this helps keep off-leash area “neutral” territory for all.
  • Keep your dog on leash until you enter the off-leash areas, and carry a leash on you for each dog at all times while in the park.
  • Dogs shall be under your visual contact and control at all times; stay within close range of your dog.
  • Be aware that dogs have different play styles.  Talk to your veterinarian, talk to other park users and educate yourself on dog behavior.
  • Ensure each gate closes behind you before you enter the next one.
  • Fill in any holes your dog digs or make appropriate repairs to disturbed areas.
  • Do not bring a dog with a known history of biting or fighting.
