The Beaty Theater is staging their production of South Pacific, a Rodgers and Hammerstein musical which mixes romance, history and a classic score that has earned its place in the American songbook. Based on James Michener's Tales of the South Pacific, this classic Broadway musical follows the lives of U.S. military men, nurses and residents of a Polynesian island during World War II. Nurse Nellie Forbush and Marine Lieutenant Joe Cable are two of the young young Americans that discover that navigated love through prejudice and societal expectations can be nearly as turbulent as war. Audiences will relish classics songs such as Some Enchanted Evening, Younger Than Springtime, Bali Ha’i, There is Nothin’ Like A Dame and A Wonderful Guy.
